Solving a sustainable future, one puzzle at a time.

Discover how Keesing is committed to reducing our environmental
footprint while delivering puzzles with purpose.

Our commitment.

At Keesing, we believe in the idea of ‘healthy minds for a healthy planet.’ In recent years, global awareness of critical issues like climate change, social responsibility, and human rights has grown significantly.

These priorities are often summarised under the acronym ESG—Environmental, Social, and Governance. At Keesing, operating on a global scale means ESG isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a core focus.

We believe true sustainability goes beyond profit—it’s about creating long-term value for people, the planet, and our business.

Key focus areas.

Several key initiatives that align closely with our ESG priorities are already in place, including:

Responsible sourcing of paper (PEFC certified)

We ensure that all the paper used in our print puzzles comes from sustainably managed forests, verified by either PEFC or FSC certification, which promotes responsible forestry practices and protects biodiversity.

Social supply chain management (BSCI certified)

Through our BSCI certification, we maintain strict ethical standards in our supply chain, ensuring that all suppliers adhere to fair labour practices, worker safety, and respect for human rights.

Promoting and leveraging the positive impact of our products on brain health

We actively champion the mental health benefits of puzzling by organising brain health campaigns, collaborating with associations dedicated to cognitive wellness, and partnering with universities to conduct research that advances understanding of puzzling’s impact on overall well-being.

Charting a unified path to sustainability.

We’re harmonising ESG efforts across Keesing to align with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and drive meaningful impact.

With the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) now in effect in Europe, Keesing is strengthening its ESG initiatives to establish a unified company strategy.

As we continue to expand, acquisitions bring valuable expertise but also varied ESG practices. We are harmonising these efforts into one cohesive approach in order to increase our positive impact.

Our strategy focuses on ‘material impacts,’ prioritising areas where sustainability aligns with our core business. This includes maximising positive contributions, like puzzling’s role in brain health, while reducing negative impacts, such as carbon emissions and waste.

In 2023, we began preparing for CSRD compliance, and plan to meet reporting requirements in 2025. Additionally, we completed a double-materiality analysis early 2024 to identify key sustainability topics, involving input from internal and external stakeholders.

The analysis considered two perspectives

  • Inside-out: Assessing Keesing’s impact on the environment and society.
  • Outside-in: Identifying external factors that could impact Keesing’s financial performance.

By combining these insights, we are developing a sustainable path that balances environmental responsibility, social value, and business success.
